Our Programs

OFY offers over two hundred high school level courses in a variety of subjects including English, Math, Science, Social Science, World Languages, PE and Health, Visual and Performing Arts, Life Skills, and Workforce Training & CTE.

Formats include online classes, small group instruction (SGI) classes, and guided independent study in which students complete course material at home with fun and insightful workbooks. We even offer cultural immersion trips that can be taken for elective course credit, at no cost to students or their families.

Our Academic Model

Our school employs a Blended Learning Model where students earn credits through Independent Study, Small Group Instruction, and Online Instruction, with teachers collaborating with students and families to determine the best plan of instruction to meet learning needs and academic goals.

Independent Study (IS)

OFY also supports students through independent instruction, allowing them to work at their own pace on assignments tailored to their individual learning needs. This approach enables students to develop self-discipline, time management skills, and a deeper understanding of the material. Independent instruction is complemented by the guidance of dedicated educators who provide one-on-one support, ensuring that students have the resources and assistance they need to thrive.

Direct Instruction (DI)

OFY’s Direct Instruction classes offer one-on-one attention from highly-qualified single-subject teachers and collaboration with fellow classmates on group assignments.

Talk to your teacher to sign up for a DI course today.

Online Instruction

In addition to independent and small group instruction, students can enroll in online classes. These courses offer students an additional level of schedule flexibility and access to advanced and AP coursework. Online classes can take place anywhere students have access to the internet.
All students are assessed both electronically and by written work, and continue to maintain regular appointments with their teacher.

A-G Courses

Among OFY’s many academic offerings is a full suite of A-G courses designed to prepare students for admission to California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) systems. The goal of A-G curriculum is to ensure students have attained core subject knowledge that will fully and effectively prepare them for the eligibility requirements of major public universities in California.

CSU and UC schools require high school students to complete the following set of high school courses with a B or C or better for admission.
